A mast raised on high
ready to snap up the wind
preparing to carry me
to what I may find
Across the horizon it
carries my dreams
anywhere I want
no destination unseen
I'm able to give
the most of myself
untie all the fetters
releasing thyself
The waves they greet me
and swallow me whole
into their current
more toward my goal
The salt swirls about
my feet leave the ground
I close my eyes
yet see all around
I'd given up hope
left for some other
yet here I realize
the sea is a mother
It takes from me
what I crave most
but gives me more
than I originally lost
I find inside
the strength and swam
to head for shore
and emerge a new man
I feel the sun
baking me dry
no more tears shall run
no more sorrow to cry
This adventure I've had
allows me to go
back to the world
that I used to know
And so I awake
from this wonderful dream
and pull on a shirt
and my old faded jeans
I step through my door
and out into the world
no worries are heavy
no anguish unfurled
My thoughts are at peace
my heart is not grim
no longer the world
seems at all very dim
